On my extra cool and not at all cheesy days, when I'm having a 'memory verse-off' with one of my equally cool but not at all cheesy friends, those ishmael songs are the reason I always win :)

Learning the words to great hymns and songs is also good - and it is easier to learn words set to music - how many of the Ishmael songs you and Jen learnt as children can you still remember - they are often pure bible verses?

So how come you were clever enough to pick a short psalm? I picked one with 22 verses and am still learning it now, all be it with less effort put in than that first week. I know it all up to verse 15... after that is a bit scratchy. Learning passages rocks we should all do it more. After all, Jesus resisted temptation by quoting scripture - how can we follow his example if we don't know scripture well enough?

I challenge anyone to learning Psalm 119 by heart.
